The World of Dark Secrets Continues ...

Once a medieval knight, Tristan McBreen is now Vampyre. Thriving and hidden in the lush romance of Savannah, Georgia, he has pledged his sword to those of his kind who will not feed on the innocent - though his quiet heart belongs to a fledgling who could well pay the ultimate price for his views. Now he must find a way to restore peace among the Vampyre - without sacrificing a love that could be his only salvation.

... and a New Love is at Stake.

Katie O'Reardon gladly surrendered her mortal soul to the darkness. Now better suited to avenge the deaths of her family, she is eager to aid those who helped her survive. Before facing a monster who hopes to use her as a pawn in his evil game, she must first prove to Tristan that she's prepared for the battlefield - and ready to be the match for this knight's everlasting heart.

Ms Philips weaves a tale of intrigue and beauty that had this reader hooked. I could not put this book down.  I read it not knowing this was the sequel, so at first the mass of individuals that were in the first chapter took me by surprise but once I ironed out who was who, I fell in love which each and every character.  Characters full of depth and richly crafted. Even the jumping in scenes to multiple points of view didn’t faze me in the least.

Tristan is a hero among ALPHA Heros. He is confidant, gorgeous and knows what he is doing, he was born and breed to be a knight. Katie a couple hundred years younger then Tristan is his fledgling and she is as enchanting and strong as he is… Both are flawed and scared of loving as they have lost so much already.  But the secondary characters add so much life and humor to the book you will love them all equally.

I loved the book and can’t wait to get my hands on her first book and have high hopes there are more in this series.

“Everybody falls in love and everyone gets hurt. Alyssa Kendall is no different. But what would you do if the love of your life was being held captive by a psychopath?

 How far would you go?

Alyssa finds out just how far she’ll go for love, revenge and peace of mind. She’s not Torn between two men, but between the two halves of herself.

Which half will win? Find out in Torn.”
Ms Star’s Torn is a romantic rollercoaster, at times you just are ready for the ride to stop and at others you can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.  Her characters Alyssa and Julian are highly likable and flawed characters; in their flaws we find their humanity. What I like most about Ms Stars writing her ability to write color blind. I know this is an interracial couple yet it didn’t read any different then if they were, white, black, Asian or purple. I was able to loose myself in the heroine and put myself in her shoes.
The story Ms Star has is full of high energy but parts of the novel dragged and others she seemed to skim over. I would have liked the book to focus more on the mending relationship then being chased by a killer crazy man, and secondary characters that though likeable and rich didn’t always add to what essentially is a romance novel.   Although this story was not for me personally I will gladly read more of her work and look forward to giving  her another try.

When romance writer Gabriella takes Mayor Dick up on his invitation to visit the town Peckerwood she finds herself drawn to him like no other. When Dick asks her to make a choice her decision will change her life in more ways than she knows.

I was surprised to find this book a story about true love. After reading the blurb for this book I expected a very tongue and cheek story. What you get is a story about finding love in the last place you think. I enjoyed watching Gabriella find herself and her place in the town but I found it a little unnerving that most of the choices that she makes seemed rushed. When she finds out that Dick wants her to be his submissive so she can research her books it does not take very long for Gabriella to jump right in full throttle. This book has a paranormal twist and when Gabriella finds herself again in need to make a choice it once again seems rushed. I would have enjoyed a bit more in the book on these parts. I understood Gabriella’s reasons but think that showing her putting more thought into these choices would have helped me enjoy the book more.

Not only do we meet Gabriella and Dick in this story but we also get to meet many other interesting characters that live in Peckerwood. To Play or Obey could be a nice start to a series. I certainly hope that many of the other inhabitants of the town will find their happy ever afters.

Although Gabriella and Dick are a nice couple and I enjoyed the banter and developing relationship between the two I found that I did not click as well with these two characters as I have with others in the past. I have enjoyed Abby Wood’s books in the past and even though this one is not a favorite I will be sure to check out more from this author in the future.

Alex visits Ireland in search of the infamous O’Shea treasure. During her research she meets the handsome Liam and sparks fly.

A fan of all things Celtic, I enjoyed this tale immensely. Author Kelly Yeakle crafted a story that will make you want to hop on the next plane to Ireland. I particularly liked the heroine, Alex. Recently divorced, she guards her heart closely. Through the story good friendships develop and she’s slowly able to let go of the past. How could she not with the blue-eyed sexy Irish hero, Liam around?  Together, they work to unravel the mystery of the treasure.

This novel has the perfect mix of magick, mysticism and reality. Enchanting and utterly romantic, The Legacy Keeper’s Treasure is a must read!

Claire has a secret fantasy that isn’t so much of a secret from the two men who love and want her. Jared is a wonderful man who accepts Claire for who she is and is willing to share her with her adult step-brother, Mark. The three work for a dynamic of sexual exploration and acceptance while trying to find a way to make their relationship one their families can accept.

As far as heat goes, this one was on fire! It relied on past experiences and past feeling building to get to that fire though, and that made it hard for me to get beyond the initial heat to the heart of the story. I would have loved to see the relationship build instead of being told about how it had sparked. The set ups for future stories about the family are intriguing and I’m sure in the world Ms. Gunn has built for Hearts Aplenty will have much more drama and lust in the future.

Valkyrie Bellona is tired of heroes. As one who has seen too many of them taken before their time, Bellona needs time away from her home and the changing rules that have her going against what she believes is right. Gabe is a fallen angel with a past that haunts him. He genuinely wants to do good, but his instincts sometimes lend to him being more of a vigilante than an order-following angel. When their town is besieged with natural disasters and by Bellona’s Valkyrie sisters, Bellona and Gabe draw closer in their fight to keep people safe. But the things drawing them together are also the ones that keep ripping them apart.

I loved the different dynamics in this story. Gabe and Bellona were genuinely hot for each other, but were ‘human’ enough to screw things up as well. Bella was so strong and I loved the Valkyrie crew and I hope a few of them get stories along the way. Between the main characters and their support staff, the personalities alone make an interesting plot even better. Anyone looking for a paranormal story with a little humor, hot sex scenes and some pretty fantastic fight sequences will enjoy Fallen Angel.

After finally being worn down by her friend Candice, Roxie agrees to get out of her house and go to the club called Wulf’s Den. The girls find a lot more than just a good time there. Roxie may have just found the love of her life and a whole world that she never knew about.

Beowulf and Roxie is a wonderful start to this series. I loved Roxie and her spirit. She stands up for herself and is willing to fight for those that she loves. Beowulf is a great guy. He is willing to fight for Roxie and her safety no matter what. The two make a wonderful couple and the love that they share shows throughout the story. Watching Roxie deal with all that comes her way was a great read.

Marisa Chenery weaves a magical story that pulls you in right from the start. Beowulf and Roxie is full of endearing characters. I enjoyed meeting Royce, Wade and Carl and hope that each one finds his true mate as well. With just the right amounts of romance and action this is a book that should not be missed.

As Taryn is leaving Wulf’s Den she meets the owners brother. Wade catches her scent as he comes up from the cellar and finds that he must find and claim his mate. Taryn is not an easy catch and it seems that an evil from her past is trying to rear its ugly head.

Once again I was drawn into the magical world of Marisa Chenery’s wolves. I loved Taryn’s Wolf right from the start. Taryn is a great woman. I loved how feisty and secure she is. She stands up for herself and never backs down. Wade is a great man who shows Taryn just how much he cares for her by letting her take control especially when he learns of her past. The two make a wonderful couple. I loved the banter not only between Wade and Taryn but all the others as well. Some of it even had me laughing out loud.

Taryn’s Wolf is filled with great characters. Not only did I love the main characters in this book but all of the secondary characters made a big impression as well. I would love to find out more about Drake and Braedan. Filled with just the right amount of romance and action this book is a wonderful continuation of this series and I will definitely be looking to visit Wulf’s Den again.
