Graeme Shepherd has given up his life as a practicing sorcerer in favor of teaching college in a sleepy Pennsylvania with his girlfriend. He might be in a rut, but he’s happy in it. Then odd things begin to happen. His girlfriend Diana and lover from the past, Peter Oberon, come to his side and the magic Graeme has given up may be the only thing to save him.

A Blanket of Bitter Frost is the third in a series of novellas by Grey-Gerou and Sanborne, though can definitely be read alone and greatly appreciated. I enjoyed the basic message contained in such a compact book about learning to communicate with the ones you love when hiding behind words and sarcasm isn’t an option. I haven’t read the other two in the series, but I sure want to. The ménage and m/m scenes were graphic but affectionate, my personal favorite combination which makes it a smooth and enjoyable read for most people. I give A Blanket of Bitter Frost four diamonds and look forward to picking up Grey-Geron and Emery’s backlists.

Landa, Dr. Landa Carson, has taken up the position of family doctor in her home town and renewed her relationships with her two bff’s Howie and Jack. It’s a nice, safe way to live, surrounded by friends and lovers. Landa, however, has a secret ability that comes into play when the bones of a girl are found in the woods, leading local authorities to suspect a serial killer. And the girl –girls – won’t leave Landa alone until she can solve the mystery.

I enjoyed this story very much. Landa’s ability to hear the dead, combined with her inability to commit, make her an interesting character to follow. At times I wasn’t sure what I wanted to happen with her personal life, but we should all be saddled with so many gorgeous man hoping to cure that commitment phobia. The reader will enjoy following Landa as she navigates the twisting streets of her life and tries to find out what happened to the girls in the woods.
