What a wonderful second chance at love story! It has everything from the tragically broken-hearted woman who has lost so much to a man who believes he can never have someone special to love in his life. Plus it is a human/vampire tale of love.

Kira is a heroine with a tragic past that immediately wins over the reader. As the story develops, she shows a strong side, a side worthy of winning the heart of this very unique hero. Trace is a vampire Guardian who has hunted rogues for centuries. He has known only death and duty all his long life. Then one day he risks all that he is to save and protect a human woman, someone he will never be allowed to have true feelings for. Yet…

The characters were beautifully developed. There were many conflicts, external and internal, and all of them difficult to overcome. The reader is pulled into these unique characters’ lives from the first sentence: “Death was her only savior.” I couldn’t stop reading, even though I knew being a romance how it had to end.

Love happens unexpectedly; sometimes it happens to the wrong people. Jizette is a lion shifter and the sister of the leader of her pride. Kage is a wolf shifter and the son of the pack’s Alpha, destined to be the next Alpha leader. Interspecies relationships are not allowed. But hearts don’t care about rules. Destined mates must make their own decisions about what they can accept and live with.

The characters were well developed, with good backgrounds, depth to their emotions, and the courage to face their problems. The conflicts were many and the obstacles difficult. But the author did a wonderful job of helping the reader learn to care for these characters and want them to conquer the issues they faced.

My only complaint was that some things were left unanswered. I assume the follow-up stories will provide the answers and I look forward to reading them.

“He was a mature werewolf, experienced to the point of cynicism, but he suddenly found himself wanting to believe in fairy tales and happily ever after endings.” This is a love at first sight, or, more particularly, a mate at first sight story. I found it to be an enjoyable read with an interesting cast of characters.

Katie’s life took a bizarre turn one day and stole her from her everyday world. As she went into heat, a strange old man surprises her, trusses her up, kidnaps her, and deposits her in a strange werewolf’s territory. But not only is her life forever changed, so is Jeff’s as he faces this odd man and the female werewolf left on his doorstep. “There was no doubt in his mind. She was his mate.” If he could convince their destinies were entwined.

The characters were nicely developed as were the external and internal conflicts, especially for such a short story. That is my complaint: the story was too short. I would have enjoyed seeing the relationship and the conflicts be more drawn out.

“Be good. Or be good at being bad.” This was a line early in the story that set the pace and sexual tension level. Almost from page one the story was hot and only got hotter.

Aaron and Cody are not only lovers but also work together making “pleasure” films. The film company’s owner thinks they need to try new things, different settings. Intrigued, the pair accept the challenge…and the challenge of adding a third man to their work.

There isn’t a lot of character development or conflict because the storyline is more erotica than erotic, meaning it focuses on the sex acts rather than being character driven. This focus was fine and worked for me.

The author had me from the moment Pike Grayson decided to move out of his personal comfort zone and help a young woman in serious trouble, Laleh Sarafpour. “There was no reason to get involved in this mess. And yet… He couldn’t turn his back on her. She needed him.” Yet as the story progressed, the reader soon understood that they needed each other: she for protection, he to conquer his loneliness, and both to satisfy an attraction that grew steadily more heated.

I fell in love with the determined Starfleet Commander, willing to risk his career and his life for Laleh. She, too, won me over with her troubled past, her possibly horrible future, and her courage to accept Pike’s offer.

The author’s world building skill in creating a believable time and settings that felt real was impressive. The characters were well-developed with layers of depth and enough backstory to make the reader want them to find a happy ending. The plot was riddled with conflicts, both external and internal, and with complications that tested their relationship. And the beginning draw to one another quickly changed to needs, desire, and the budding of a sexual life together that promised to only get more interesting and titillated the reader as well.

I look forward to reading more of this series.

If Star Trek would have been more like this book I probably would have watched it. Rebecca Royce created a great story I quickly found myself lost in. Her wording was wonderful, not at all over done. I loved the characters and was intrigued by the plot. It was action packed, sensual, entertaining, all wrapped up in a neat little package.

Lizbeth was a strong well written character as was Action. They were both believable and I could feel the love between them from the start. My only issue was the fast sex scenes with no foreplay, pants off, do the deed, move on. I think the description of Troy fit him well and made me dislike him as much as all the crew did. Every one of the characters were written in a way that made them essential to the story and plot.

This is an out of the world good book. Rebecca Royce ties the story together perfectly despite the fact it is a very short book. It is well worth the time to read and I promise you’ll enjoy it.

Mac is a good person and I like that. I have read a lot of books with rich characters and Hannah was the epitome of philanthropy. That alone made me like her so much more. Keith was the kind hearted farmer who loved his land and his woman with passion. I wish there had been a stronger emotional connection between these two characters outside of the bedroom.

If ever the start of a book confused me it was this one. I had no idea why the character was doing half the things she was. The story line wasn’t great. The book was purely about sex, all the rest of the story seemed to be filler. I liked that in the end they did end up together. He came to her in her time of need and that was endearing. The characters were a bright point in this book. They were very real and their personalities came alive.
