Sometimes you can have a good marriage, a good life, but you get so caught up in your everyday world that the “magic” of romance and great sex disappears. When Nolie’s husband asks her one morning “Do you ever get bored with us?” she realizes just what a rut they’ve fallen into. They work hard, love one another, but sex has become an afterthought. Both are ready to try something a bit daring, something to spice up their marriage.

This was short story, but wonderfully written. It hits home with someone who has been married for a number of years, loves her husband, and yet misses the sensual, sexual sparks that once flew between them. The theme was that whole “second chance at love” idea which is always heartwarming to read. I particularly enjoyed Nolie’s thought that “She’d known she’d married a good man, but she hadn’t realized how far he would go for her.” Definitely an “Oh, that’s so sweet!” moment.

Love at first sight doesn’t mean a relationship won’t have problems. Dante had been looking for a submissive to be his forever. He wanted the best of his lifestyle: a man as open to certain needs as he was, a man he could love and dominate. He hadn’t expected to find such a man when he was introduced to Daniel by his friends. And Daniel was equally drawn to the handsome dom at their first meeting. But things happen, really bad things sometimes.

I very much enjoyed this story about two men struggling with who they were and how much they wanted to be together. When their love was nearly torn apart, I ached for them both. The characters were wonderfully written, the plot line well developed, and the emotional roller coaster everything it should be to keep the reader turning the pages.

For Ana, life as one of the immortal Tuatha De Danann has been pretty uneventful for the past one hundred and fifty years. She is sent to the mortal world to protect the Fey king as he takes a break from the Court. Ana spends her time peacefully in the club she owns, keeping company with Lucas, a vampire she trusts and a staff she enjoys. Then Stark comes into her life. He’s charming, brilliant, tenacious and human. Suddenly Ana’s predictable life is turned on its ear. Deceit within the vampire world impedes on Ana’s work and though something is growing between her and Stark, she knows more is working against them than either of them realize.

Flash of Dark is a great mix of humor and darkness. There is violence and intrigue but also playfulness and love. It was a joy to watch it all come together; yet leave so much room for more in the next books. Stark was absolutely yummy, smart and strong, yet not stuffy or unattainable. The supporting cast was incredibly interesting and more than once I couldn’t put down my eReader because I had to know what happened next. I give Flash of Dark four diamonds. First person voice isn’t my favorite, but Ms. Brookes made Ana a character I’d listen to for hours.

“Genevieve Drake is a Dhampir -- half vampire, half mortal, born and bred to be the perfect complement to her vampire mate, like those of her family for sixteen generations. Instead, she chose to become a cop. Three months ago she survived a vicious attack by a psychotic ex that left her with psychic scars and a desperate need for a new line of work. Time to rethink her future.

Hunter is tall, dark and handsome -- and very, very powerful. He's also been waiting for Genevieve. She was just sixteen when he had a vision that they'd one day become lovers. He's been biding his time ever since.

But Genevieve's experiences have left her unable to trust any man, even Hunter. If he wants them to have a future, the vampire will have to find a way to banish her ghosts...”

Ms Knight takes an interesting twist on the Vampire genre with this short story. Hunter is one of the most likeable Vampire characters I have read, he is understanding, compassionate and patient . Genevieve has major demons she is battling emotionally and it’s up to Hunter to see she succeeds. The characters interaction is smoking from the first moment they step foot in the same room and believe me the sex scene aren’t if you are looking for a quick enjoyable read this might just be the book for you.

Carmen Harris is frustrated with her life and wants a change. Aaron is a romance writer and is also frustrated with his life. They find each other on a cruise for romance writers and readers, each hoping to find something special again.

This was a nice little story about two people hoping for a second chance at love.

The author had me interested from “I love dating a vampire. All night he’s with me and all day he’s dead. I know where to find him. It’s a win-win.”

Lance Cheron was the perfect lover, reading French poetry to her in his sexy voice in a sexy language, intimately pleasing her as many times as she wanted, and yet there was a sense of mystery about him.

I loved Ann Milton being a financial planner for the undead and enjoyed her attitude toward her work. “Life is fleeting, but an expertly managed portfolio can last several lifetimes. Living from paycheck to paycheck for eternity is a bitch.” Perfectly said.

While I enjoyed the romantic elements in the relationship between Lance and Ann, there was also a darker side to the story. Wandering through the storyline, you’re introduced to some intriguing characters that were well written. I won’t share any more tidbits of this wonderful story. You’ll have to read it for yourself.

Cassie Gibson has traveled from Boston to New Mexico Territory to claim the ranch left to her by her father only to find a dark, handsome devil with blue eyes who claims to be the rightful owner. Jed Hazard proposes a business partnership to settle the ownership issue but is surprised when his feelings for the spirited Cassie develop into more than he’d bargained for.

Tame the Wild Wind is a fresh take on a classic Western romance, complete with a Madam with a heart of gold, soiled doves, a marriage of convenience, and a rugged hero hiding from his past. The main characters are appealing, and the town of Silver Spring is populated by a cast of lively and engaging secondary characters. The reader can’t help rooting for Cassie and Jed to overcome the obstacles in their path to find the true love they both desire.
