“She was probably an old hag with a hairy wart on her chin and a voice that sounded like an eighteen-wheeler jamming on its brakes.” Vincent Marcelli, a P.I. doesn’t believe in ESP or psychics. But he is desperate for help in solving a kidnapping case involving a young boy. Even though Julie Simmons had helped on many cases with the LAPD and was highly praised by them, he was still more than skeptical about her abilities. He plans to get any information he can from her, pay her, and send her on her way again. His plans are thwarted from the second he meets the young woman who looks more like a fairy than a Gypsy and makes him think thoughts he shouldn’t be having about her.

Julie Simmons was a psychic who worked with the police in the past, but she had stopped after becoming so drained by the traumatic cases. She had never worked with Vince when he’d been a no-nonsense cop, but she’d seen him and been intrigued by him. She’d wanted to meet the sexy, gorgeous man, wanted him, period. Now she has her chance to get to know him in many ways. But first she must prove her worth to him on this kidnapping case.

The novella had a good cast of characters, a complicated suspenseful storyline, and a slowly developing romance.
