This is a story involving a couple married twenty-one years, far from the early days of marriage when sex is new between them, when they’re satisfied with their life partner and don’t question their relationship. All these years later they’ve fallen into a sexual rut where intimacy isn’t special or exciting anymore. Harold heads into mid-life crisis and discovers that he needs more. He desperately wants the woman he loves to take a step into the wild side with him and to mutually explore their fantasies. But Avril is firmly entrenched in what she’s been told is “acceptable” and “normal” as far as sex is concerned. She is horrified when a box of sex toys is delivered to their home and she opens it. Horrified and worried. Is her marriage falling apart? Has she lost her husband to a world she can’t and won’t take part in? Or can she take a chance and explore her own dark fantasies? I very much enjoyed this story about a couple daring to step away from the norm and to redefine their lives.
