For Ana, life as one of the immortal Tuatha De Danann has been pretty uneventful for the past one hundred and fifty years. She is sent to the mortal world to protect the Fey king as he takes a break from the Court. Ana spends her time peacefully in the club she owns, keeping company with Lucas, a vampire she trusts and a staff she enjoys. Then Stark comes into her life. He’s charming, brilliant, tenacious and human. Suddenly Ana’s predictable life is turned on its ear. Deceit within the vampire world impedes on Ana’s work and though something is growing between her and Stark, she knows more is working against them than either of them realize.
Flash of Dark is a great mix of humor and darkness. There is violence and intrigue but also playfulness and love. It was a joy to watch it all come together; yet leave so much room for more in the next books. Stark was absolutely yummy, smart and strong, yet not stuffy or unattainable. The supporting cast was incredibly interesting and more than once I couldn’t put down my eReader because I had to know what happened next. I give Flash of Dark four diamonds. First person voice isn’t my favorite, but Ms. Brookes made Ana a character I’d listen to for hours.
