When Connie moved to the ‘dark’ side to be with her vampire lover, she understood she’d have to give some things up, but was content with a longer life with Rurik and being just short of a vampire. The couple learns Rurik isn’t the vampire sustaining the blood bond that keeps Connie in her heightened state. The one who Connie needs to be near is really Tane, a very powerful vampire who isn’t quite a friend. When Connie is threatened because of her connection to Tane, she’s brought deeper into the vampire world—a place she’d rather not visit, let alone stay. Exposed to the new culture and the past of her lover Rurik, Connie learns her fate and sexuality aren’t as cut and dry as she’d thought.

Catch is not for the faint of heart. The fights are bloody and Ms. Nicholas writes some serious torture scenes. The love between Connie and Rurik is lovely, but the relationships that grow throughout the story are the real interesting part. Connie is so feisty and I love how flawed she remained throughout the story. Catch is a good story for paranormal—especially vampire—readers after something darker, but still with a little humor.
